This dose of liquid lemonade heaven comes from Jamie Evans (aka The Herb Somm), a well-known CBD and cannabis personality who is best known for her blogging, recipes, and signature canna-culinary events.
You can find this recipe and many more in her book, Cannabis Drinks: Secrets to Crafting CBD and THC Beverages at Home.
1 cup (240 ml) of fresh-squeezed lemon juice
1 ounce (30 ml) of Infused Rich Simple Syrup (recipe below)
2 ounces (60 ml) Non-infused Rich Simple syrup (recipe below)
Using a citrus juicer, juice 1 cup (240 ml) of fresh-squeezed lemon juice. Remove the seeds and keep the pulp.
Pour the lemon juice into a mixing bowl, then add 1 ounce (30 ml) of Infused Rich Simple Syrup and 2 ounces (60 ml) Non-infused Rich Simple Syrup.
Use a whisk to blend the ingredients together, then taste the lemonade. If you prefer a sweeter taste, add more non-infused syrup, then whisk again.
If you don’t have the supplies to infuse the rich simple syrup, simply substitute regular rich simple syrup, then add your favorite unflavored tincture (at your preferred dose) into the mixing bowl before whisking. Follow the directions as written and shake vigorously before serving.
Infused Rich Simple Syrup
Yield: 28 ounces (840 ml)
Target Dose: 15 mg CBD | 4 mg THC per ounce (using a flower infusion)
One 32-ounce (960-ml) sterilized Mason jar
5 grams decarboxylated flower of your choice
4 cups (800 g) granulated sugar
2 cups (480 ml) water
1 tablespoon (15 ml) food-grade vegetable glycerin
Before making this recipe, remember that when preparing a rich simple syrup, it’s sweeter than a normal simple syrup, so your sugar base should be a greater ratio than the water that’s called for.
Weigh out 5 grams of decarboxylated flower. Set aside.
Combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan. Bring to a soft boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves into the water. Reduce the heat to between 160°F to 180°F (71°C to 82°C) and add the decarboxylated cannabis.
Simmer over low heat for 50 minutes, stirring occasionally, scraping the sides of the pan to remove flower and sugar debris.
Reduce the heat and add the vegetable glycerin—this will give the CBD and THC something to bind to. Continue to heat and stir for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat.
Pour the infused simple syrup into a 32-ounce (960-ml) Mason jar through cheesecloth placed in a fine-mesh strainer to separate out the solids.
Let cool and shake before serving. Store in the refrigerator for several weeks.
Non-Infused Rich Simple Syrup
To make the non-infused rich simple syrup, combine 2 cups sugar with 1 cup water in a saucepan and heat until all of the sugar dissolves into the water. Make sure there’s a 2:1 ratio of sugar to water to ensure you’ve made a “rich” simple syrup!
